One thing I love about this time of year is shooting family portraits! The fall is the time when everyone starts thinking about their holiday cards and gifting photos to grandma for Christmas. I think about the impact my work has on these families and it makes me cherish my job even more.
Photography was so important in my family growing up (and still is). I can remember the hallway of photos my grandma had lined up in her house. Each time I would visit there would be a new photo in a frame. A lot of times when my family gets together, we go through old photos and albums, look at family portraits and tell stories about the times in the photos. This is one of my favorite activities.
I think of this sweet Dallas family who chose me to photograph their family portraits and think about their twins having these photos to look back on when they are older. I think about the art pieces that will hang on their walls and will sit in frames in important locations around the house. The fact that I get to play a small part in this family’s legacy is humbling (and a bit mind-blowing) to me and I do not take that lightly.
Thank you to this sweet Dallas family for allowing me to photograph them and for all the time and attention this sweet mama put into their outfits. I have started to implement a Style Guide for all of my sessions and love how much easier it makes my clients’ lives.
This family looked absolutely stunning!
Here are a few favorites from their Dallas Family Session.
